Auch an Tag 58 war ich mental weiterhin an einem schwierigen Punkt, und der Gedanke, den PCT vorzeitig zu beenden, ließ mich nicht los.
Da ich am Vortag früh Schluss gemacht hatte, warteten heute noch über 45 Kilometer bis zum Burney Falls State Park auf mich.
Die Hitze, viel Overgrown und meine Gedanken machten den Tag nicht gerade leichter.
Um 16:10 Uhr erreichte ich den Store – nur um festzustellen, dass er bereits geschlossen hatte. Frustriert hatte ich jedoch Glück im Unglück, denn ein Parkbesucher erkannte meine Misere und gab mir spontan einen Hitch nach Burney.
Dort gönnte ich mir etwas zu essen und ein Motelzimmer. Am Abend zog ein heftiges Gewitter auf, und nach einem lauten Knall war plötzlich der Strom weg. Bis tief in die Nacht blieb alles dunkel.

Even on Day 58, I was still in a difficult place mentally, and the thought of ending my PCT journey early wouldn't leave my mind.
Since I had called it a day early yesterday, I still had more than 45 kilometers to cover to reach Burney Falls State Park.
The heat, plenty of overgrown trail, and my own thoughts certainly didn't make the day any easier.
I reached the store at 4:10 pm — only to find out that it had already closed. Frustrated, I got lucky in the midst of it all when a park visitor recognized my situation and spontaneously offered me a hitch to Burney.
There, I treated myself to some food and a motel room. In the evening, a severe thunderstorm rolled in, and after a loud bang, the power suddenly went out. Everything remained dark well into the night.
